BOYS FORT

Boys Fort started as a PDX Holiday Pop-Up Shop in 2011 in the Galleria Building in downtown Portland, Oregon. Conceived and curated by designers R. Rolfe and Jake France, it was a surprise hit and the fans kept wanting more. In April 2012, Boys Fort, along with Solabee Flowers and Botanicals, set up shop in the storefront at Salvage Works in the North Portland neighborhood of Kenton. Later that Fall it was back downtown for another holiday pop-up, this time in the lobby of the Governor Hotel. Holiday 2012 was a great success and allowed for Rolfe and Jake to explore the thought of a permanent Boys Fort downtown. On May 5th 2013, Boys Fort opened their permanent brick and mortar at 902 SW Morrison Street, one block from the original pop-up shop location.

TOWNShENDS TEA

Townshend’s Tea Company began as a college project at the University of Oregon in 2002. The idea was to bring together a casual college campus-style coffeehouse atmosphere with top-grade loose leaf tea. That idea has grown into five locations where everyone feels welcome to enjoy our extensive selections. An inviting atmosphere, good music and friendly service make the teahouses gathering places for people of all ages.

JENNY FLAX CERAMICS

Jenny Flax is a native of Washington, DC, where she took her first formal pottery class seven years ago. When Jenny came to Portland in the spring of 2014, she worked at a food cart for a short time before finding barista work and an opportunity to showcase her wares with Olé Latte. She enjoys the challenge of making sets of things; because each piece is hand-thrown, they rarely match exactly. Her work is simple, functional, and meant for everyday use. She draws inspiration for her glaze work from the rich palette of the Northwest.

bowery bagels

Bowery Bagels was founded by a transplanted New Yorker whose goal is to replicate the high quality bagels he grew up enjoying.  A genuine NY style bagel should have a light crunch on the crust, a chewy but not dense interior, and a malty richness. To obtain these characteristics, each bagel we make is hand rolled. The dough is fermented to develop flavor and texture. After a long, slow proof, the bagels are boiled in small batches, then baked to perfection and delivered within hours. The ingredients in our bagels are deliciously simple. Shepherd’s Grain flour from the Pacific Northwest, Bob’s Red Mill flours and grains, malt, yeast, salt, and water. The occasional high quality spice or natural flavoring. That’s it. Bowery Bagels are baked by a small team of dedicated professionals and bagel fanatics in Northwest Portland. We hope you enjoy eating them as much as we do making them.

jasmine pearl tea

We are deeply in love with tea! Our romance with tea began at different times: As a child, I would take tea with other little girls, and marvel at the many flavors it had to offer. For a rare treat, I would have tea with my grandmother, who shared a small piece of her Moroccan heritage by making mint tea...with lots of sugar. As an adult, I began exploring tea in new ways, from understanding how the leaves travel from the garden to the cup, to learning about the complex social history behind teas popularity. Today, I am still in awe of the endless array of flavors and rich cultural traditions of this singular beverage. We have methodically tasted and studied thousands of different teas in the last ten years, in search of the most delicious and interesting examples available. Every step of the way is taken with love and every blend we create is done with heart. Each of our teas is packed with care and we believe that our reverence to the art of tea and the cultures each tea represents, infuses them with a little something extra. Our hope is to provide an opportunity for you to sit and enjoy your own personal retreat - a ritual of simplicity, intention, and taste.

Paiche

"Originally from the coastal capital city of Lima Peru, Chef Jose Luis has lived a life of fanatical dedication to two main things: an enduring love and respect for the ocean and an unyielding devotion to food prepared and served with dignity. AKA: SURFING and COOKING. Jose Luis’s career lead him from Executive Chef of Gaston Acurio’s “La Mar” Restaurant in Lima to various roles in Portland’s food scene. It’s here that he gained an attentiveness to mindfully grown, raised, and harvested seasonal ingredients. These days, Chef Jose Luis expresses his bold spirit by either serving Peruvian inspired northwest cuisine in a friendly and inviting eatery called Paiche. Or surfing, of course."
